Silver Star: Let’s go for a walk out in the sunshine. We come to a stone wall and we sit on it in the sunlight and we look out at the trees and we can feel the stone wall under our bodies. But is it real? What is the nature of reality? As you look out at the trees, bushes and the little pebbled path that comes up to the wall, are these things real?
Well, you have to define what you mean by ‘real’. Real equates to permanent. When you are saying ‘is it real’ what you are really saying is ‘is it permanent?’ Well, yes it is and, no, it isn’t… let me explain. Yes, it is, as long as it is in your memory and, no, it isn’t, as an actual object because you live, Brothers and Sisters, in a land of dreams, so what you consider to be real in your mind is only real for as long as you hold onto that memory and that construction you have placed in your mind. So your nature as a human being, as a human spirit is to see things outside of yourselves but to solidify them inside of yourselves.
When you go on a walk in the sunlight you feel the warmth from the sun; you see the trees at this time of year in autumn shedding their leaves; you can sit on a stone wall; you can walk along a gravel path and you might come to a little farmhouse. All these things are ideas outside of yourselves; ideas that appear to have shape, form and solidity. But it is only inside yourselves that you decide what is real. If you come back from your walk and sit in front of the fire and it is now raining outside it doesn’t matter because you can return to your reality of the memory of that walk and your imagination will provide you with all the factors of that walk so that you can take it again in your mind.
Why am I talking to you today, for your website, about reality? Because I want to say to the children on Earth, to the men and women on the Earth, that they can alter their concept of reality. If you think about it, that stone wall and that walk are very real to someone who has undertaken the walk and taken pleasure from it, but there are other things that are not so pleasant that also solidify in the mind and to which we give reality and permanence each time we think about them.
For example, many people believe in the power of illness. They believe, because someone has told them that they have a certain condition, that they do indeed have that illness. They solidify it within their mind, they give it a permanence, they give it a reality, and, because men and women are creative creatures made in God’s image, that reality becomes very real.
Let me explain what I mean. Someone can be wandering along, enjoying the sunlight and feeling fine, then along comes someone else who says to them, ‘You look ill.’ From that point onwards the other person accepts that image and creates that reality (which really has no substance until this point) within themselves and they become ill. And the more they believe they are ill, the more they create and strengthen that inner reality. Mankind has become used to creating this inner reality of negativity.
What I am trying to say to you, on this lovely autumn morning, is that you can create different realities. You can take away your belief in the illness being real; it is only permanent (like that stone wall outside of yourself) for as long as you believe that it is permanent. That suggestion of illness will come from outside of yourself – someone will diagnose it for you or someone will make the observation that this is wrong or that is wrong with you. It is outside of yourself in the field of dreams. It is only when you internalise it and accept it that it becomes reality. If you have accepted it and you are ill now, you will only be ill for as long as you believe in that reality. It is no more permanent than the dreams outside of yourself. It is just a matter of going within yourself and saying, ‘This is no longer real’ and at the point you say, ‘This is no longer real,’ you deconstruct the reality you have created within yourself and you take away the problem you have been suffering from.
‘Oh, Silver Star, you make it sound so easy. If only it were so easy,’ you are saying to me. I am not telling you it is easy because each of you has been on Earth a number of years during which you have been conditioned. You believe, if somebody tells you that you are ill, that you are ill and that that is reality and the only way that you can get rid of the illness is by applying some external force, by applying medicine or treatment from outside of yourself. The only treatment you can really have in absolute reality (if you will forgive my pun) is from within yourself because you decide when you are going to stop being ill. You decide – no one else – just as you decide when you are going to be ill based on information that has come to you from outside of yourself.
What I am trying to give you today is a gift; a new way of thinking. I am not saying that your doctors, nurses, advisors and counsellors don’t know what they are doing. Of course they know what they are doing, but they are treating an image of yourself based on a reality you have accepted within yourself, and you can just as easily de-construct and take away that reality. It is no more permanent than the objects on the walk that are only permanent as long as you remember them and give them power.
This is a metaphysical question. When you have walked away from the wall, does it still exist? Does the sun still exist? Does the walk still exist? Does the wall still exist? Does the tree still exist? Well, yes, they do, because other people besides you believe in the reality outside of themselves, but you are carrying within you that image that is more real than the actual walk you have been on because your ‘actual’ walk has been through a dreamland but the reality of the walk within yourself crystallises and is given permanence each time you think about it.
So your thoughts and beliefs are very important things and I would love for you to examine the way that you think about things and to realise that everything you believe is permanent is simply permanent because you believe that it is. So if you don’t want to be ill, un-believe it! If you want to be healthy, believe it! You program your own internal universe with whatever reality you hold to be true. That is it - you hold it to be true because you believe it to be true. When you are ill you hold onto the illness because you believe it to be true, so you have to hold to be true something else if you want to be healthy. Hand in hand with the drugs and the treatment (which will do you good because you believe in them) you have got to believe that you are healthy. You have got to believe that that illness is a misconception and is something you have bought into and something you hold to be true.
Illness is only one aspect of your ability to build your own reality. Think what a glorious gift you have got if all you have to do is hold something within yourself and it becomes reality. You needn’t have actually seen it in the physical field outside of yourself. It can be a dream as the physical field is itself a dream. It can be a dream of wealth; it can be a dream of health; it can be a dream - and this from my point of view on the spirit side of life is the most important option - it can be a dream of a better world. You don’t have to see the violence that is in the world. Acknowledge it, yes, but then say, ‘that is not part of my reality. In my reality, in the world I am contributing to, things are peaceful, things are spiritual, things are loving, things are at rest, things are Godlike, people get on with one another in the name of God and in the name of love.’
And if you do a little exercise every day - say for five minutes - just daydreaming in your chair, you can imagine the better world you want. What would you like from your world? Unless you are suffering from an illness of the mind, you would want peace in this world. You would not want aggression or violence, you would not want the generation of children that is growing up to be anti-social, to be murderous, to be antagonistic. So you have to see in your little world within yourself a world where children are not that way, where they are well behaved; a world where men and women get on with each other; a world where there are no weapons; a world where there is peace and harmony and growth through constructive thought.
This is not pie in the sky. People will say you are a dreamer and you must say with hand on heart, ‘Yes, I am!’ because, in being a dreamer, you are being what you really are - a spirit with the ability to bring through into your internal and external worlds whatever you desire. So be the dreamer; there is nothing wrong with being a dreamer!
The truth is everyone is a dreamer but most people dream the wrong dream. Most people give reality to the wrong dream so, unfortunately, through your media - newspapers, television and satellite broadcasts - you are transmitting through the field of dreams to people around the world the wrong idea and the wrong image of reality. Your media is saying to people, ‘this is a violent world. This is a world where there is no light. This is a world where there is no food. This is a world where there is illness. This is a world where there is upset,’ and all of these things you internalise from the field of dreams and you believe and you keep dreaming the dream that is being fed to you. All that it would take to change your world is for enough of you to dream a different dream.
We have talked to you about many different things on this website over the months but this is the most important one because this is something that you can do and I would like you to try it. I would like you to try it with a head cold or a headache or a pain in your little finger and to say, ‘this is not reality. In reality that pain is no more; in reality I am healthy.’
I would like you, for a day, when you go to work, instead of treating your colleagues with antagonism, suspicion and fear because you ‘know’ someone will upset you or will antagonise you or will be against you, to say, ‘Today those people I have believed to be this way for so long are perfect. They treat me perfectly, they treat each other perfectly, they treat each other peacefully, they treat each other with love and that is what I am going to treat them with.’ And you will see your day change.
What I want you to do is not to take my word for all I have just said but to prove it or disprove it for yourselves through small actions. You can imagine and say to yourself, ‘I am going to have a good day!’ How often do you say that? How often you instead go to work or set about your daily business thinking that today is going to bring you displeasure, pain and failure in some way? Try it for an hour, expand it to a half-day, expand it to a day and realise that you build your reality from within outwards and not from outwards in.
You do not have to accept the dream that is outside of you. You are a dreamer and you can create your own dream and a perfect dream and you must stick with it, Brothers and Sisters. This is what we would love you to do. We would love to give you the freedom that God has already given you to create your own reality and to create that better world.
So, my talk today has been about creation and reality. Is something permanent? Only if you choose it to be so and for as long as you choose it to be so. Can something be better in this world? Yes, if you choose it to be so and permanently if you choose it to be so. You are a dreamer, you have potential, you can change this world.
Isn’t that marvellous!
