Can my child see spirits? Why can my child see spirits? Are they gifted? These are questions that many people need answers to. The truth of the matter is that YES, just about all children can and do see spirits. It is not that they are gifted or special. In fact it is a very normal thing for a child to see them.
Children are not born with the conditioning that these things are not real, or that they are a figment of an over active imagination. It is through society and conditioning that they grow up and block these abilities because they are made to feel different, strange or just plain crazy. They are so often told that what they are seeing and experiencing can not be real, so eventually they come to believe that themselves. Children are full of trust and when they see someone, they will acknowledge them, whether they are a human or a spirit. It is only when they are told that they are making it up, that they will learn to doubt what they see.
So why is it normal for children to see spirits? Think of it this way. When a person passes from this life, they will cross over into the spirit world. They will meet up with their guides. They will meet up with passed loved ones and spend time with them. They will meet up with their soul group again. In time, when they are ready, they will choose to come back and live another earth life, to learn any lessons and have experiences on the earth plane that they may not have already experienced. When a child is born, they are closer to the spirit world because they have just come from there. It is quite normal to still be seeing and conversing with others from the spirit world. As we grow up, we often grow away from the world of spirit and we often forget about who we are. We lose the identity of our true selves. We try to fit into society and what we think other people expect us to be.
So, what do we do about our children and their ability to see spirits? We treat it as normal. We should neither encourage it nor discourage it. There is no reason to keep questioning them or prompting them to talk about it. When your child talks about that imaginary friend or the friend that only they can see, allow them to talk and act as though they are talking about a school friend. When they are afraid, assure them that whoever it is can not harm them because their Guardian Angels will always protect them. By allowing their experiences to be validated in a caring and positive manner, you as a parent are helping them to develop to the best of their abilities, without learning to self doubt and you will be teaching them that they do not have to grow up to fit into a certain mold or to conform to others expectations of them. You will help them to be their true selves.
