Distant Healing - part two

If we have a cold or the 'flu, we can take a remedy or drink hot lemon and honey or chicken soup, rest up and let nature take its course. If there are more serious conditions, we size up the situation, take action where we can (step one) and then pray (step two).

I must mention here that, in this second step, we are not merely putting the situation in God's hands. We are clearing and cleaning ourselves of the condition. We do NOT assume, or take the ill person's condition onto ourselves, or draw a possessive earthbound spirit into ourselves. That would only make US ill, and ineffective. We send those conditions away, once detached from the victim.

But, since we are aware of someone's suffering, the fact that it is in our awareness makes us responsible. We are here in the world, witness to all that is going on. Since we can't be everywhere, like God, to put things right, all we have to work on is ourselves. If we love ourselves, clean and clear OURSELVES, give thanks, forgive, and be peaceful as we move into the divine light, that light will be effective in helping the world, and our clients, heal. That is the BEST we can do - work on ourselves.

Here are some cases I have worked with as examples.

A lady had serious throat cancer. It turned out not to be hereditary or due to indigestion and acid reflux, smoking or other environmental factors, but to an inability to express her thoughts and frustrations over the years. She could not voice her complaints, so they remained stifled in her throat, causing the present condition. She realised this when the cancer came along. It was a wake-up call. She changed her attitude completely, and spoke her mind without hesitation, startling some people, unused to her voicing her opinion. Soon the cancer went away, and she continues to be this new person. This was a case of self-inflicted mental and emotional blockage.

Another case was a man with cancer of the nasal passages, due to a lifetime of heavy smoking. Damage had already gone too far by the nicotine burning into his nose and palate, and healing prayer could help in easing his passing and soften the pain. This was self-inflicted physical damage from the smoking. Other addictions or exposure to environmental toxins can eventually cause similar damage to the lungs and other body organs.

Another man in his forties was autistic and had lived at home with his mother all his life except when institutionalised. He is uncommunicative, unemployable and not interested in any social activity. He manages to see to his own cleanliness, and make himself constant cups of tea. Beyond that he has to be looked after. We saw that he had been possessed by his father, who had died when the man was in his mid-teens, the time that he had become schizophrenic and autistic. We communicated with the father and did our best to persuade him to move on to his rightful place in the afterlife, so that his son could lead his own life. Eventually he did move on into the light. That was step one. Step two: we continued to pray for him and the son, who is now beginning to communicate and take an interest in life. "What really is" in this case was a grown, intelligent man, able at last to live in the world rather than locked in his mind, and possessed by the spirit of his father.

I myself had terrible migraines throughout my life, especially in times of stress. Then after reliving a moment in a recent past life, when as a soldier in the infantry fighting in World War One I was killed by a bullet striking me in the forehead. After this realisation, and release of other memories of that war which had hung around me since childhood, the migraines have ceased to bother me, and have disappeared.

A young man is bored with life, having had many previous incarnation in which he achieved his goals. Now, in this lifetime, he has gone astray, with nothing seemingly constructive to do, so he turns to drink and drugs, and getting into trouble with the law, in and out of jail. This type of life further causes him to be possessed by sick addicted and criminal earthbound spirits, causing him ill health, epileptic seizure and the inclination to act out with criminal behaviour. We are attempting to clear him of these spirit influences and his own past influences, and find meaning in the present life. Now he is beginning to lead a more sober life, and pay attention to his wife and family, and mother, no longer harassing his sisters, begging for money to support his habit.

So, to sum up briefly, we pray for the individual, doing what we can and then hand the matter over to God, then work on ourselves, constantly, so as to maintain a positive radiating spiritual light.

There is one further factor to take into account about healing. Each of us, before incarnating here on earth, maps out a number of stages throughout a lifetime at which we might decide to leave the body, die and move back to the Spirit World. It may be an accident as a teenager, or older, a midlife crisis or suicide, a shattering illness when older, a longer terminal illness, or a peaceful death in extreme old age. Any one of these stepping-off points may be chosen.
So when we are trying to heal someone and there are no positive results, it may be that the patient has chosen to die at this point in time, so that our best efforts, and God's guidance, can at best merely ease the passing. Our grief needs that perspective, and not become a long-lasting obsession. Death is not a tragedy, but just another step along our immortal journey. If there IS a miraculous or spontaneous healing and recovery, then the spirit of the person has obviously changed his or her mind, and will choose another point of departure, later on in life.
Now I have found that orthodox religions tend to ignore or keep away from Spirititualism and contact with the Spirit World for their own different reasons. Buddhists and Hindu yogis are cautious and will ask us "who wants to be in touch with tramp souls and earthbound spirits ?" They miss the point that there is consolation from contact with our deceased loved ones, who are not tramp spirits or earthbounds, and they provide evidence and proof that there really IS an afterlife, and that each one of us is an immortal soul. We receive much useful information and spiritual philosophy from those who have gone before us.
Catholics and fundamentalist Christians generally believe in demons absolute evil and in Satan or the Antichrist, and so bring fear into their arguments and their formal exorcisms to heal possession, which are often lengthy and violent procedures. They to eject and send what are really earthbound spirits or human-created thoughtforms to Purgatory, Hell or eternal Damnation. This is imagination and superstition gone wild.
In these cases, the earthbound spirits, forced out into the open, use the combined energy of the team which is helping the exorcist in order to resist the prayers and incantations and create havoc, as is seen in overdramatised movies on the subject..
This is why it is better to practice our own two-step form of distant healing, and gently and persuasively over time, encourage the earthbound spirits into the light.
To my mind, evil is not more powerful than God, but merely the combined energy of earthbound spirits gone astray, distant from God, and latching onto the negative energy of malicious human intentions and selfish materialist goals. Demons and devils at worst are the remnants of thoughtforms created by black magic in the past, and Satan, Lucifer and other legendary figures are personifications of human fears, and negative emotions such as hate, anger, prejudice, malevolence and superstition. They have power over our thoughts until we realise that they are not real. Only God IS. Jesus, Krishna, the Buddha, Muhammad and other spiritual masters are examples of God's love in human form, and if we attune to their light and that of our own guides, we will be protected both from possession by earthbounds and from negative superstition and irrational beliefs and ideals.
Now, sceptics and hard-line scientists and even some of my cousins, call all this hogwash, until they really look at the evidence, which in the end they cannot ignore or deny, of the unexplainable. The working of the spirit does not fit into any materialistic theory of life, evolution or reality. They all collapse like a house of cards under the light of God's love, when we look at what really is, the answer to the second valid question.
